When the pandemic began nearly three years ago, the number of people needing assistance in our industry increased exponentially. With the support of our many partners throughout the industry, the Pioneers Assistance Fund stepped up to meet that need.
A MESSAGE FROM HEATHER MORGAN, PRESIDENT AND JIM ORR, PAF COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN
We grew from assisting an average of 600 people per year, to helping nearly 10,000 at the height of the pandemic. While guiding our industry members through that crisis, we learned a few very valuable lessons:
Our industry and the people who comprise it are inspirational and resilient beyond measure.
They are profoundly capable and resourceful when armed with the right tools and information.
They are looking to us to provide the resources that they need.
And so, step up we will continue to do. Data from research institutions, business journals and our own internally-conducted survey has shown that, overwhelmingly, people are not well-equipped to manage their financial health or mental well-being. The results also show that they desperately want to be. While they are deeply grateful for the assistance provided when they are reacting to unexpected situations, they would much prefer to be proactively prepared, but often just don’t know how.
It is with this deeper level of understanding of our industry’s needs that we introduce a new program called INNERMISSION. Curated by the Pioneers Assistance Committee, this educational series leverages top experts in the fields of financial planning, mental health and emotional well-being, and utilizes 30-minute live webinars to make their vast knowledge broadly available throughout our industry. This format allows people to attend anonymously, while also having the ability to pose questions to these experts, directly.

GRANTS for housing emergencies, funeral expenses and many other unexpected needs that may arise.
MEDICAL ASSISTANCE for needs such as procedures, equipment and medications.
SUPPORTIVE SERVICES such as counseling, referrals and workshops covering a wide array of issues.

ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS
The Pioneers Assistance Fund provides financial aid and supportive counseling to individuals who work in theatrical exhibition, distribution and vendors exclusive to either sector, who are encountering an illness, accident or injury. A team of social workers confidentially assesses the needs and financial difficulties of motion picture industry members and provides aid to support health and well-being when income and assets are limited.
